Hallie Lieberman takes you on a journey decade by decade, giving you the opportunity to meet the people who contributed to the sex toy industry.

Buzz tells you the history of sex toys in an intricate and fascinating way. It makes you feel like you are right there in history, seeing it all unfold before your eyes. I did not want to put the book down and read it in four sessions.

I could not stop talking about this book to the people closest to me. It makes you look at media and the toys you have at home differently. I recently visited one of my favorite stores and as I saw the many toys they had on display, I thought about the decades it took to make the quality and numerous designs that people before us worked on.

My least favorite subject in school was history, but if the history books were written with as much detail and passion as this book was, it might have been my favorite subject. I could write more about this book and go on and on, but I don’t want to undue the authors work and I hope that if you decide to read this amazing book, you can have as much joy as I did.

I want to thank the author for the hours spent on her research and the details she shared. I felt closer to the women who came before me and the culture that has led us to this point. I’ve had questions on why certain things are the way they are, for example, why are vibrators called back massagers. It is all in her book and I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in why society views sex the way they do. Why there are taboos and the story of how the toy or condom you may own, was not always available for everyone.
